Eco-Friendly Bar Stools
The bar and counter stools we feature on this page are considered eco friendly because they are either made from recycled, recyclable or
sustainably sourced materials, and do not pollute indoor air quality by emitting VOCs. They are designed and manufactured by companies with
a commitment to environmentally friendly practices and social responsiblity.
Emeco makes environmental safety a top priority when designing and manufacturing its bar stools. Not only are the stools made from
75-80% recycled aluminum, they are built to last - apparently they are estimated to last 150 years or more! The recycled aluminum comes
from post consumer and post industrial waste, so the stools are made from soft drink cans and scrap from manufacturing. Aluminum does not
emit measurable levels of VOCs or aldehydes, so there is no risk of off-gassing with these stools, which makes for a healthier indoor
environment.
Calligaris is a leading Italian furniture company and has a raw material supply policy that focusses on environmental sustainability.
Its stools are made from sustainably sourced materials and the wood is FSC certified.
Knoll has a clearly defined sustainability statement and makes its stools from 100% recyclable materials such as aluminum and beech. Its
stools are Greenguard certified. This means they have been independently tested and certified as being low-emitting products, for reduced
indoor air pollution. It pays close attention to green issues, with focus on life cycle analysis and involvement in LEED certified
projects.
