Commercial Bar Stools

Bar stools in a commercial establishment such as a restaurant, grill or pub, need to be tough and resilient to survive the use and abuse they get from customers, otherwise they won’t last for any length of time.  It’s a false economy to buy a bulk lot of very cheap bar stools only for them to fall apart after a few months of constant use.  Quality commercial bar stools tend to be ones that are welded together for extra strength and durability, rather than those that are held together with screws.  They must also meet certain safety standards, such as being flame resistant.

The right choice of bar stool style can really add to the atmosphere and character of your business, and help create a welcoming ambiance for your customers.  Some stools can even be customized to fit in with a theme, such as a sports bar or retro 1950s style diner.  Leather bar stools are commonly used as they have a timeless sophistication and should last a long time.  Inexpensive metal bar stools made from aluminum, chrome or stainless steel are also popular as they are low maintenance, lightweight and look great in a contemporary setting.  Wooden frames are another good choice, especially in traditional style pubs.

If you have an outdoor bar area or a billiards bar, then there are bar stools made especially for this purpose.  Another factor to consider is whether you want traditional stationary or modern rotating seats.  Swivel bar stools are often found in commercial settings, often fixed to the floor, as they are great for saving space and thus leaving more room for more customers!  Being able to turn around on the seat makes it easier to get on and off, especially in crowded bars, and is a great feature in social situations.  Remember to take into account the height of your surfaces, as bar stools come in a choice of heights for a regular bar, counter, short or extra tall.
